My fiance proposed last week with a ring that has a micro pave band. Unfortunately, one of the diamonds fell out. this probably happened after the ring was sized, because I’m sure the jeweler would notice, but I’m not sure. I don’t want to tell him, because he spent a lot of money on this ring and I know it would make him feel bad. I am going to get it repaired, but does anyone have any idea what this costs. They are tiny round diamonds.

How much does it cost to fix a missing diamond from a micro pave engagement ring?.?
March 14th, 2011Help finding unique engagement ring?
January 24th, 2011I am looking for a unique engagement ring…
It is a pave, split shank, trellis set diamond ring. The unique part about it is the ends of the trellis setting holding the center diamond loop creating a discrete heart motif.
The ring was found on blue nile, but i need to find the name of the designer to order it straight from the designed because I have a loose diamond already and blue nile won’t let me buy strictly the setting and they won’t disclose the designer’s name.
Here’s the ring, i need to find it on a different site: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-setting-platinum_12918
Which engagement ring do you like?
January 22nd, 2011My boyfriend has taken me to look at engagement rings a few times over the past 6 months. I’ve had my mind set on a round diamond with a round halo setting – it seems classic, timeless, yet beautiful.
But we tried on rings the other day and I fell in love with a round diamond, square cushion halo ring. I never wanted a square and was hoping he could find that style in a round. But he keeps saying how gorgeous it looked, that it stood out to him. He may have already got the ring, who knows, he just seems to be pushing for the square. Since I never considered this shape before, I’m not confused about what I like. I think I could go either way. What do you think???

Note: the round one in this picture shows a huge diamond, which adds to how it looks in the pic…I’d get something considerably smaller.
Is this a good deal for an engagement ring?

I want a half carat. I tried on a friends ring that was a princess cut with half carat with side stones. The most important to me is the cut, but is a I color bad, or average?
So far this is a much better deal than I have seen in the stores.
Color Diamond Engagement Ring?
January 9th, 2011Ok so my boyfriend of 7 yrs asked me what type of ring I wanted and I use to want the traditional ring. Now I decided I’m different and I don’t want the standard diamond ring that everyone else has. So my question is which would you prefer a blue, black or yellow diamond or event a blue sapphire. I found multiple rings I like and I think I’m leaning towards a black diamond with pave stones around it. What’s your opinion? Thanks
Have you seen any engagement rings with hearts on the side view?
November 14th, 2010I am looking for a diamond engagement ring with two bands of pave diamonds that come meet in the center to hold the center stone and when looking at the side of this ring the shape of a heart is made from the loop of the two bands.
Have you seen anything like this?
Or have you seen any diamond rings with hearts in the detailing on the sideview?
Any that I would be able to buy?
Is it possible for a jeweler to add micro-pave diamonds to a plain gold ring band?
October 25th, 2010I found a ring I want to purchase, a solitaire diamond with pave diamonds around it, but feel that it would look better if there were a couple micro-pave diamonds on the band. Would a jeweler be able to add micro-pave diamonds to this plain band? And if so approximately how much would it cost?
Thanks so much for your help.

How long does it take to get a custom engagement ring?
October 2nd, 2010When I say custom, I mean from scratch. My fiancé asked me to marry me before I turned 30. Like every woman, not being in your twenties sucks. Any way. It’s a octagon paved white gold with a 1 kt diamond. I’m just so excited but I don’t want to keep asking him. Please help me so I don’t totally ruin the suprise for him.
Can I have five larger diamonds broken down into a large amount of smaller diamonds?
October 2nd, 2010My fiance’s mother passed along her wedding band to him to give to me for my wedding band. Her husband had passed away many years ago and was so sweet to give us a band with 5 larger diamonds in it. However, they don’t match the single strip of pave diamonds on my engagement ring, which is what I’m looking to have happen. So, I would need to have the 5 larger diamonds broken down into smaller diamonds. I’m wondering if this can be done, if anyone has had this done, and if it is worth it (how much did it cost to have them broken down). Thanks for your time and any help you can provide me with!
What color are your wedding bands?
October 1st, 2010I was thinking of a plain platinum band ring for me and a plain gold band for my fiance? or instead of a plain platinum band I would get a diamond paved band, since I don’t want an engagement ring, I would just be wearing my wedding band. What color are your wedding bands? By the way I already discussed this with my fiance.
What the heck do people get for a wedding band when they get the 3 row pave engagement ring bands?
September 28th, 2010Maybe this is a silly question but for the life of me (and my future fiancé), we can’t figure it out!
We will be getting an engagement ring from Leon Mege. I was set on the pave band with the 3 rows of pave as opposed to the single row. On his website, an example would be the R908.
If I were to get the single row pave engagement band, then a single row pave wedding band would be flush with the engagement band. What the heck do people do when they get the 3 row pave engagement ring bands? Obviously when you have a strip of diamonds down the middle and both sides of the engagement ring band, and the same on a matching wedding band, won’t the diamonds always be rubbing against each other??? The single row bands have metal on the sides so they can come up right next to each other so how does it work with the 3 rows?? I’ve seen plenty of pictures of bridal sets with 3 rows on both bands, but never a picture of how it looks on someone actual finger?! And the ones I do see on pricescope, usually people write “pave bands” instead of “single row” or “3-row pave bands” so I can’t tell in the picture if I’m looking at single or 3-row.
I do see that Leon has a metal band that can go in between the two rings in his additional photos of the R908 if you wanted matching bands. #1- I don’t like it, and #2- wouldn’t the metal just get scratched??
Is there any way to have these rings sit flush with each other, or even have them welded together?
Wouldn’t having 3 rows on the engagement band and the wedding band defeat the purpose if the two rows that touch each other are basically now covered up by each other?? Isn’t that a waste of money on extra diamonds or am I just not envisioning it right???
Just to clarify I am talking about the pave BANDS only. The setting of the E-ring is a single stone solitaire on a pave band. Some bands have the single pave strip, in other words, a row of very small diamonds around the band. The one I am getting has three rows of very small diamonds around the band: one down the middle and one down each side… the pave diamonds curve with the band. The wedding band is the same deal and the pave diamonds curve with the band. So just wondering how that works when they are sitting right next to each other on the finger.
wedding and engagement rings?
September 28th, 2010Lately I have been looking into wedding and engagement rings. I’m blown over by the millions of choices! My question is simple. how do you choose an engagement ring that looks good with your wedding ring since they are supposed to stay on the same finger if you like nice rings?? I’ve never really met anyone who has more than one ring with diamonds on it but my bf and I LOVE diamonds! I want my rings to look good together but don’t want a two ring setting as an engagement ring because I think they look odd and don’t seem to come with more than one diamond. I really like the larger "pave" style and also the simple one stone setting with diamonds on either side as well as the one I don’t really know the name of it but you can see it here at Tiffany’s. Please help! Are there other people who just don’t wear their rings on the same finger? I just think that whatever I choose (I will def. keep both rings the same style) will look silly! please help me!

Yellow Diamond or Blue Sapphire Ring?
September 27th, 2010My husband is buying me a new ring for our anniversary. And I’m split on which I like best. A 3.5 carat asscher cut yellow diamond solitaire with white diamond accents channel set in the band, or a 2.75 carat cushion cut sapphire in a pave setting with white diamond accents.
Which do you like best?
engagement ring question?
September 26th, 2010me and my boyfriend of 6 years are currently in a long distance relationship (i’m 24 next month, he’s 26). i just moved to hawaii for college and he will be living out here this december. we have been emailing each other and i send him pictures of my life here thus far. well, the other day, i sent him a bunch of pictures and at the bottom was a pictures of a de beers diamond ring that was called an engagement diamond pave ring or something along those lines… it was 1850.00 so definitely not cheap but not too highly expensive. the next day i casually/jokingly asked if he had gotten aaallll the pictures i sent and he smirked and said he did. he immediately then said "how much was that???" and i said 1850.00 and that it was written underneath the picture…..and he just said "oh ok thats not that bad" …i then proceeded to tell him that i would sure love to have that and etc
and then i dropped it because i didnt want him to feel awkward or anything. and that was our conversation pretty much! then, that night, i went to debeers website and emailed the ring’s page link to him so he could see the full details and i know he saw the email but hasnt really said anything. i know these things guys keep in suspense but i just wonder if he sounds not interested to you guys? he is going to come out here and visit me next month for my birthday and our 6 yr anniversary so do you think he would get me this as a gift? i am wondering because anytime i hint at something for my bday…he always gets me it… i have a very small diamond promise ring for my bday gift from him a couple years ago and another ring that is a gorgeous piece.. i think was like 400 bucks…reason i am asking is because do you think he would get the hint with the word ENGAGEMENT under the ring? and the fact that the ring is like 1850 so it’s not just any kinda ring? its from de beers which he went there with me before to pick up my moms upgraded wedding band from my dad so he kinda understands that…but i think he may think its just another gift? what do you think? i would be kinda bummed to get a 2k ring for a bday present after 6 years lol :-/ he knows that i want to take things to the next level as we have talked about it but he always says he isnt ready…although his bff of 20 years just got engaged recently so i dunno if things have changed? also, i would like to be engaged if he moves to hawaii because i want to start our life together…not necessarily get married right now but to start a journey so to speak.
i dunno what to do? ideas?
i kinda think after 6 years of being together and waiting and nothing happening…throwing a hint of a picture of a ring is a good start to somewhere. it would be clingy and weird after maybe 2 years of dating….
how often do pave set diamonds get damaged / fall out?
May 18th, 2010I am looking at an engagement ring style that has a center stone with pave set diamonds on all three sides and all the way around, or 2/3 way around.
I am concerned about the durability of this type of setting. Realistically, how often would I need to have the ring repaired- on average?
Robbins Brothers Asks: Halo Diamond Engagement Ring or Traditional Solitaire?
May 11th, 2010If you’re engagement ring shopping (or dreaming) you’ve encountered several different styles of rings. If you had to choose between the Halo Diamond Engagement Ring (a round, oval or cushion-cut diamond encircled by a "halo" of micro pave diamonds) or a traditional solitaire diamond ring, which would you select?

white gold or yellow? should i get zales warranty? really LONG questions about wedding jewelry. please help!?
April 17th, 2010Okay, this question has a couple different parts and I want to go ahead and say thanks for any and all help!
Short version is: Should i get a ring at Zales/Gordon’s, do they back up what they sell pretty good? Do they go out of business often?
Should i get yellow gold or white? White has to be dipped every year and yellow doesnt. If i get white it’s going to be an extra warranty to have free rhodium dips. Is it worth it since my closest zales and gordons is more than an hour away?
Below is a lot more details so you can better understand my questions and why i have them.
I got engaged May 2009. I have a white gold band with a solitaire. We started looking for bands for the ceremony (august 2010) and i decided i like the ones with diamonds in them.
To get a band that looks good with my diamond and on my finger (they are long but chubby) I would need a 1/2 carat total weight band, either pave or channel. It’s basically going to be just as cheap to get a pretty bridal set as it is a 1/2 carat band. I tried some on and have also looked online and am willing to sacrifice the 1/2 carat band to get a prettier bridal set with a little less carat weight. The set i like looks pretty big on the hand but up close it’s several smaller diamonds grouped together. I’ll post a link of the one im considering, below.
My main issue is, I had NO clue that white gold was actually just a faint yellow gold dipped in rhodium. I started doing some research and heard people talking about getting their rings "dipped" and then I started studying my band on my diamond and sure enough there’s a little faint yellow showing through. When I asked several jewelers they said most people get them dipped once a year and it’s about per ring.
So.. If i get a white gold set from Zales/Gordon’s they have the diamond bond which says that if i break or chip or lose a diamond or knock the head off the ring, they will fix or replace it ( i like that a lot). That’s included with the price. I can also add on an extra warranty that allows me free sizing and rhodium dipping for life and it’s . My main question is, should I get the ring from Zales/Gordon’s and if so, should I add the warranty? The only reason I’m thinking about not adding that on is because there is only one zales and one gordon’s around me within a 2 hours radius. I have to take the diamond there every 6 months for inspection. What happens if I get the ring at Gordons and then they go out of business? I’ve emailed the company to see if i can take it to any other gordons or a zales since they own each other. So far all i got was "we need more time to answer your Q"
Also, I prefer white gold but should i maybe reconsider and train myself to like yellow gold since i wont have to worry about having it dipped every year? My class ring is yellow and i don’t really mind it, i just seem to prefer white but maybe that’s because it’s the "going thing." I know most people will say "go with what you like since you’re wearing it" but im wondering if anyone out there thinks it’s worth the hassle to have to get the white one dipped every year…and keep in mind i have to drive more than an hour to get it inspected twice a year and to get it dipped once a year. And also keep in mind they could go out of business since they are in a rinkydink mall in a small town.
Here’s the ring in yellow: http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4091622&kpc=1
Here it is in white: http://www.zales.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4091621&kpc=1
If you made it this far, i have one more question: Can you haggle with jewelry chains like zales, gordons, and kays? Could i ask them what’s the lowest they’d take if im paying cash (which we will be)
If I get platinum i would have to go way lower in carat size.
The deal is, I’m in college and he just bought a house. Obviously we cant spend a thousand more dollars on a ring set because the ring i have now is already about that much. Like i said, it’s about as cheap to get a set as it is to get a band in the specifications i want.
The reason i asked about haggling the price is that the rep at gordon’s said they can give a 10% discount if she asks the manager. So i assumed if they could ask and knock off 10% why not 15 or 20% if im paying cash and not financing.
I found the exact same set with the same color and clarity on another site for about half of what gordon’s charges… so now i hav e to decide if i want to chance buying it online and pocket the extra 0 to pay for dipping and small stone replacement.
I’m just trying to save my fiance money, he does so much for me already. I know i sound cheap but im just trying not to take advantage of his money for a ring that is only a symbol. Some people don’t even have rings so I already feel blessed.
Would a 23 year old woman be satisfied with a .81ct diamond on an engagement ring?
April 15th, 2010I am in grad school and have been saving for a while. I found a .81ct diamond with Ideal cut, VS2 Clarity, and I color that fits my budget. It’s a round cut center stone with the following setting:

Would you be satisfied with this ring?
She is a wonderful woman who would accept anything I gave her. I just want her to have one that can hold its own with her peers. I know it’s not about competition, but I sincerely believe that she is better than her peers and I want the ring to reflect that.
